Westin Hotel Residency

This year in collaboration with the Toronto Arts Foundation and The Westin Harbour Castle Hotel, Serene was chosen to be a part of Westin’s first 3-month artist residency. During this residency, Serene creatively explore new ideas, establish meaningful connections, and draw inspiration from the hotel’s one-of-a-kind settings and environments. As a part of the residency, Serene hosted a series of live digital and traditional painting  workshops that guided participants through the process of creating mesmerizing magical scenes focused on self-care and wellness. During one of the sessions, Serene guided guests in crafting an enchanting, fall and Halloween-themed digital painting featuring a tranquil library and bath setting with expansive windows showcasing nature outside. Within this serene scene, subtle Halloween elements were subtly integrated. The primary aim was to underscore self-care and relaxation, allowing participants to handwrite book titles on an iPad while sharing their unique self-care practices within the library. Attendees took away valuable insights, including learning techniques for crafting a self-care-focused, magical scene, actively engaging in the creative process, and discovering the therapeutic advantages of art and creativity.
