HUGE news!! I have a solo exhibition with Scarborough Museum in collaboration with @tohistorymuseums, which is now LIVE and completely free to visit!! I have several art installations throughout the museum and the message of the work is to inspire a profound rethinking of our interactions with the environment and each other. My goal was to share the idea that sustainable living is achievable and can be rooted in cultural heritage. By reconnecting with traditional wisdom and embracing innovative practices, we can create a harmonious and sustainable future for all. Please drop by and visit if you’re in the Scarborough area!

Clean My Art Room with me! I just finished renovations so my art room is an absolute MESS. By the end of it, everything in my room was dusty or in boxes. The worst part is that my poor plushies were negletted for months 🥲 It’s okay because I’m back now. Ngl, it gave me anxiety having everything so out of place. I hope you found cleaning up as satisfying as it was for me. I still have a lot of updates I want to make to this room, so stay tuned! What do you have in your art space? I’d love to exchange ideas!

Last fall, I became @westinharbourcastle ‘s first artist in residency! To commemorate the end of my residency, I hosted one final workshop and did a little paint night with Westin’s special guests. This painting describes this weird in-between feeling you might get when good things are happening around you but you’re unable to fully appreciate it. You know you should be happy, but you can’t help but feel a little lost. It’s like you’re floating in a sea of happy memories, and you’re present but not really there at the same time.

I’m not sure if there’s a word in another language that describes this contradictory “happy-sad” feeling. Have you ever felt this way before? Or am I just crazy LOL 😬

When my grandma was alive she always wore the stap

When my grandma was alive she always wore the staple White Flower balm oil that most Asian households are probably familiar with. She claimed that it healed everything under the sun: tummy aches, headaches, motion sickness, (you name it)🤣

I remember reading somewhere that smell is intricately connected to memory due to the brain’s limbic system, which processes emotions and memories. Though my grandma isn’t with me anymore, the fragrance triggers memories of her presence. Every time I encounter the White Flower scent, it transports me back to memories I spent with her, evoking feelings of warmth, comfort and love 🥹

This painting is a special one to me and I’ve been meaning to create it for awhile now~ Is there a smell that reminds you of a loved one?

☁️ Howl & Sophie ☁️ truly my favorite couple in the Studio Ghibli universe!! Howl’s Moving Castle has always been my favorite Ghibli movie- the scenery, the background music, the magic are all just perfection 🤌 I can’t believe it took me this long to finally paint them 🥹 I absolutely love how they turned out!

I’ve been experimenting with a slightly new way of painting and am loving the style hehe. Let me know if I should paint more fan art and what characters I should do!

✨NO FACE✨ Truly my favourite character from the studio ghibli world! He’s seen as a isolated and lonely spirit, and becomes drawn to Chihiro because she shows him kindness. The desire for connection and belonging is a universal human feeling. BUT he begins to devour other characters in the story due to the destructive nature of unchecked desire 😳

No Face just wants love like everyone else 😭 what do you think is going to happen to Chihiro in this painting?
